Aarum
BIOGRAPHY
Derek's right hand man and bestest friend in the universe. Aarum was the first of Derek's minions and is consequently his favourite. Aarum is a non-verbal fellow who has a number of powers, such as teleportation, which he rarely puts to use because there is never a situation that would require it - so he's essentially just a guy. When he's not doing Derek's bidding, he's tending to his Train Dimension (his designated place in the void that is just one infinite railway around the world), collection of antique swords and French shit.
He finds Derek the easiest to talk to, because Derek can literally read his mind. Otherwise he has to communicate in writing (a habit which has made him into a very fast writer), or in various grunts and gestures, you get used to it. Sometimes when he's feeling funny he'll manipulate a nearby radio, switching channels rapidly to form sentences.
PERSONALITY
Aarum is mild-mannered most of the time, having a semi-permanent "poker face". He is not short-tempered but when he's angry it's very obvious: his face contorts and you can see his blood boiling, he gets pretty intense. But after being with Derek for almost 400 years, he's learned to endure the worst. Contrary to his stoic surface, Aarum is a bit of a "hopeless romantic". He loves all kinds of romance films and novels, his favourite movie genre being adult Romcoms, and hopes to find that Special Someone himself one day, but his options are...limited.
HISTORY
PAST LIFE: In his past life, he was a samurai during the Edo period in 1600s Japan. He was also non-verbal, which made him a lower ranking samurai, despite him being highly-literate, having shown great accomplishment in poetry. Still, he was a noble warrior and set a great example for the Uchiyama family. When he was in his late 20s, he caught the eye of the shogun's daughter, a proper young woman who was quite the swordsman herself. He was punished for fraternizing with her, as she was meant to be betrothed to a feudal lord, and he was ordered to commit Seppuku.
Derek (invisible when he chooses) was taking a tour around the world and stopped by Japan just in time to witness the ceremony. He was intrigued by Aarum's life and selected him to become his best bud, reincarnating him in the void shortly after, making him the first reincarnated thing ever. Aarum has no solid memory of his past life, or his full name. He does, however, have the scars on his neck and across his stomach from the Kaishaku (decapitation) and Setsu-fuku (cutting belly) respectively, to be a reminder of how he died. It was a bit depressing at first, but he doesn't mind them anymore.
QUEST FOR DEREK JR: Aarum accompanied Derek on his Jesus-making journey (along with Paz), as his roommate "Aaron" Uchiyama. His and Paz's job was to offset any (questionable) purchases Derek made, you know, for the sake of the economy. While Derek was out in the wild searching for a lady, Aarum would go out and buy groceries and do other stuff to manage the apartment - or as he liked to call, "running Aarons". He was also tasked to mysteriously murder Derek when it was time for the experiment to end, i.e when the baby was born.

- His favourite colour is gold, but he could settle for yellow.
- He likes classical music, but has an open mind.

- He tends to attract the attention of the daughters of tyrannical, important men.
- He died when he was 30, so he hasn't aged since then.
- His body is exactly identical to his past body, except for the white skin and weird hair (and occasionally non-existent mouth).
- His hair just kind of floats around, but it is also sort of like a tail.
- He only wears the hat when he's in his train.
- He is one with his train. When his mouth is absent and he happens to make a sound, it manifests as a CHOO from his train.
- He is technically Rumi's great^18 uncle.
- He can beatbox.
